Nine men by the end of it
Kwaku Agyabeng went in two-footed from behind on Miguel Navarro in the 38th minute. Straight red, no argument.
Moises Mosquera joined him two minutes into stoppage time for hauling down Reggie Cannon as he broke clear. Sporting Kansas City finished with nine.
Colorado won 2-0 in Commerce City and did not have to work especially hard for it.
Try it for $0.99.
A debutant’s corner, and Cannon attacks it
Youssef Maziz was playing his first MLS minutes. He came on after the break and, in the 65th, swung a corner towards the back post. Cannon got across his man and headed it in at the near.
The second came five minutes into added time. Paxten Aaronson slipped it to Rafael Navarro, who took a step away from his marker and hit it low with his left.
Colorado had 75% of the ball and won the corner count 8-2. Third home win in a row, 25 points on the board.
Hansen wins the one-on-one that mattered
Nico Hansen made three saves and kept a fourth clean sheet of the season.
He gathered a Calvin Harris shot from range in the 28th, then came off his line to smother Dejan Joveljic from the side of the box.
The moment came in the 87th. Harris got in behind and had only Hansen in front of him. The keeper rushed out, the shot came back off the post.
Aaronson clipped the bar with a free kick from 30 metres, and Rob Holding put the rebound header wide.
Kansas City have lost three straight and scored in none of them. Four wins, 12 defeats, 14 points. That is a season going somewhere bad.
