Ligue 1 has given him a wake-up call
Ansu Fati thought he knew football. Then he found Ligue 1. “People would be surprised,” says the Monaco striker in an interview with AS. The French league has shaken him up. The pace, above all.
“It’s a very physical league. Everyone runs, everyone is quick. It’s a tough league. Anyone who has played in it will tell you that.” The Spaniard is not hiding it. He adds a pointed detail too: English clubs keep dipping into France in almost every transfer window. Not a coincidence, in his view.

Barcelona is behind him now
The backdrop has changed for him. Signed permanently by AS Monaco for 11 million euros, Fati has closed the Barcelona chapter, the club where he grew up. One solid season on the Riviera was enough to trigger the option.
At 23, the former prodigy wants to become a proper force again. And, in time, win his way back into the Spain squad. The plan is clear in his head.
Happy on the Riviera
The rest comes down to the little things. The sun, the sea, a setting that feels like home. “The climate is similar to Barcelona, so I’m very happy to be here,” he says, as he gets through pre-season with his team-mates. Now he just has to turn that comfort into goals.
