Ligue 1: Strasbourg sign Chelsea keeper Filip Jorgensen on loan

A third Chelsea goalkeeper in three years

Strasbourg have their man between the posts. The Alsace club confirmed this morning that Filip Jorgensen has joined. The 24-year-old Denmark international arrives on loan from Chelsea. The RCSA statement says the deal runs until the end of the 2026-2027 season, with no option to buy.

It is becoming a pattern. For the third season running, Strasbourg have taken a goalkeeper on loan from Chelsea through BlueCo, the ownership group behind both clubs. After Djordje Petrovic and then Mike Penders, Jorgensen now takes over in the Racing goal.

A backup keeper chasing minutes

The Dane comes off the back of the 2025-2026 season as a reserve at Stamford Bridge. The starting spot never really opened up for him. The move to Strasbourg should give him a proper No. 1 role and a real run of games in Ligue 1.

He fits what Racing needed, with the club having to sort out its goalkeeper situation before the season restarts. Jorgensen brings size and experience at the top level in England, even if he still has plenty to prove over time.

The BlueCo model at work

The move lays bare BlueCo’s multi-club machine. Chelsea develop and loan out, Strasbourg provide the minutes. Petrovic and Penders were only passing through. Jorgensen will be hoping to stick around.
