Golf: Michael Brennan wins at Wyndham

A champion’s final round

Michael Brennan never looked like folding at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro. The American finished the Wyndham Championship in 258 shots, 22 under par, after the final round on Sunday. A closing 64, capped by a birdie on the last hole, gave him a three-shot cushion over Beau Hossler.

The numbers tell the story. It is already his second PGA Tour title, and his second in the 2026 calendar year. At 24, the youngster is climbing the American pecking order fast. The win earns him $1 530 000, from a total purse of $8.5 million.

A playoff berth secured

Beyond the trophy, Brennan also booked his spot. He was the only player in the field to break into the FedEx Cup top 70, which means qualification for the opening playoff event. He takes the place of Steven Fisk, who won in Louisville earlier in the season but was bumped out at the last possible moment.

The winner also picks up 500 FedEx Cup points and 50 world ranking points. Behind him, Ben James posted the best round of the day, a 61 that lifted him into outright third on 18 under par. Kevin Yu completed the leading four.

On to Memphis

The action keeps rolling. The Tour moves on next week with the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Tennessee, the first stop in the final stretch where Brennan now has a real say.
