WNBA: Lynx down Aces to clinch a playoff berth

Miles and Collier carry Minnesota

The Minnesota Lynx punched their playoff ticket on Saturday, beating the Las Vegas Aces 98-87 to push the WNBA’s best record to 26-7. Olivia Miles led the way with 26 points, Napheesa Collier added 22, and Natasha Howard filled the sheet with 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Las Vegas got 23 from Jackie Young and 16 points with eight rebounds from A’ja Wilson, but the Aces never found an answer for Minnesota’s depth.

The third quarter settled it

Minnesota carried a four-point lead into the break, then pulled away. Reserve Dorka Juhasz strung together big plays on back-to-back possessions late in the third to stretch the margin into double figures, and the Lynx never let Las Vegas climb back within reach.

The result locks up a postseason spot for the team that has set the pace all year. Wilson, whose 20-game 20-point run still stands as the league record Kelsey Mitchell is now chasing, could not drag the Aces level on this night.

What it means

Minnesota keeps the inside track on the top seed and home-court advantage through the playoffs. For Las Vegas, the loss is a reminder that the road back to the Finals runs through Minneapolis, where the Lynx have been the hardest team in the league to solve.
