A quiet €5 million move to the Basque Country
Deportivo Alaves have signed Miguel Rodriguez from FC Utrecht. The Spanish club confirmed the deal on Monday, paying a reported five million euros for the 23-year-old right winger. Utrecht will bank only about half of that, close to 2.5 million, having held just 50 percent of his economic rights.
Rodriguez has agreed terms through June 2028. He returns to Spanish football a year after moving to the Eredivisie.

One season in the Netherlands, broken up by fitness
The winger managed five goals in 39 appearances across all competitions for Utrecht in 2025-26, steady output for a wide player whose year was interrupted by injury. He rarely put together a long run of starts, and the switch to Alaves reads as a reset at 23.
The economics tell their own story. Five million euros for a young winger, with the selling club collecting only half, is the kind of low-risk bet lower-half La Liga sides have leaned on for years when they scout the Eredivisie for pace and resale value.
What Alaves get
Rodriguez offers directness on the right flank and a profile Alaves can develop or sell on. Born in April 2003, he still has his best years in front of him, and the length of his deal, two seasons, gives the club room to be patient.
