The World Cup is now in the rear-view mirror and MLS is back. In Nashville, nobody wants to break the rhythm built before the break. Top of the Eastern Conference and the best team in the league so far, the Tennessee club returns home with one aim: pick up exactly where it left off.
For Atlanta United, the picture looks very different. The Five Stripes have endured a frustrating first half of the season and sit down in the bottom half of the table. This trip to the most consistent side in MLS feels like a proper test, and maybe a chance to kick-start a season that has yet to get going.
Nashville are ticking along nicely 
Not long ago, Nashville were seen as a tough side to play against. Now they are much more than that. They win, they score regularly and they give up very little. Their victory over New York City just before the break only backed up what has been obvious for weeks.
The numbers say plenty. Just one defeat in 14 league games, an eight-match unbeaten run and a deserved place at the top thanks to a team that is functioning at both ends of the pitch. At GEODIS Park, supporters still have not seen their side lose this season, and Nashville are putting up one of the highest goal averages in the conference.
Sam Surridge is enjoying the best spell of his MLS career, with nine goals from only eight appearances. Behind him, Hany Mukhtar is still the man who can speed the game up in an instant, while Cristian Espinoza has quickly become a vital creator thanks to his crossing and his eye for a pass.
Atlanta are still searching for the right formula 
The coaching change has not yet had the impact Atlanta wanted. Back on the bench at Atlanta, Gerardo Martino is trying to rebuild a side short on confidence. The intentions are there, but the results keep lagging behind, and the defensive mistakes are still costing them points.
Away from home, Atlanta have struggled badly. Their trips often follow the same script: too many chances conceded, too little control and real trouble protecting a lead. The arrivals of Junior Alonso and Paulo Diaz are supposed to add some steel to a back line that has not kept a clean sheet in weeks.
It is not all bleak, though. Aleksey Miranchuk remains the main attacking threat in this team, and Miguel Almiron is back after the World Cup, eager to rediscover his best form in the colours of the club where he made his name.

This is a meeting of two teams whose styles point towards an open game. Nashville are fearless at home and play with an attacking edge. Their last four matches have all gone past the 2.5-goal mark, a clear sign that their approach keeps producing lively nights.
Atlanta, meanwhile, simply do not offer enough security at the back to shut a game down completely. They have been too easy to get at all season, but they do have players who can hurt teams when space opens up.
With Surridge in sharp form, Mukhtar still pulling the strings between the lines and Almiron back on the Atlanta side, chances should not be in short supply. Nashville look well placed to get the job done, but Atlanta have enough going forward to make a contribution too. Over 2.5 goals looks the smart call.
