2026 World Cup: how to watch France vs Spain live
July 14. Dallas. A semi-final against the one side that keeps ending French summers. France have run into Spain in the last four twice in three years, and lost both times. Now Les Bleus get another crack at them, this time with a World Cup final on the line, in a packed stadium in Texas on Tuesday night.
Those two defeats still sting. Euro 2024, then the 2025 Nations League, both in the semi-finals, both against Spain. Mbappe and the rest have not forgotten. Payback has rarely been set up this neatly.
Les Bleus arrive in form
Not one stumble so far. France topped their group, then worked through Sweden, Paraguay and Morocco, seeing off the Moroccans 2-0 in the quarters with goals from Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.
This is a third World Cup semi-final in a row for Didier Deschamps. Champions in 2018, beaten finalists in 2022, now one win from a third straight final. Very few teams ever string that together.
Then there is the mileage. France have covered roughly 6,364 kilometres hopping between host cities. Spain have racked up more than 24,000. La Roja have travelled far more, and they get one fewer day to recover before kick-off.
None of that wins a semi-final on its own. But if this one drags past 90 minutes, tired legs tend to talk.
Try it for $0.99.
Spain remain a serious threat
The reigning European champions did not stumble into the last four. Spain saw off Austria, then Portugal, then Belgium on Friday, and they have conceded a single goal across the whole tournament. One.
Lamine Yamal is the name that keeps defenders up at night. The Barcelona winger can settle a fixture with one burst of pace. Mikel Oyarzabal has been sharp all tournament too, another man France cannot afford to lose track of.
Their bench is loaded as well. Mikel Merino has already come on and swung games more than once. Switch off for a second against this Spain and it costs you.
Two knockout meetings, two Spanish wins. France know the script by now. Tuesday is about tearing it up.
