2026 World Cup: how to follow France vs Morocco live

Four years after Doha, France are back in action against Morocco. On Thursday, Didier Deschamps’ side take on the Atlas Lions for a place in the 2026 World Cup semi-finals. It’s a matchup that inevitably brings back memories of Qatar, when the French ended Morocco’s remarkable run one step short of the final.

France’s run in the 2026 tournament

Since the start of the tournament, Deschamps’ team have moved through the rounds with a cutting edge in attack, scoring 14 goals in 5 matches. Top of their group after three straight wins, France then knocked out Sweden in the last 16 and Paraguay in the quarter-finals, before moving on to this latest showdown with Morocco. Another step on the road to a third straight World Cup final, after lifting the trophy in 2018 and finishing runners-up in 2022.

Morocco want to repeat 2022 and get back to the last four

Morocco are no longer a surprise package. Their semi-final run in Qatar changed how people viewed the Atlas Lions. Four years on, they are still going deep into the tournament and this time will fancy a shot at revenge against France.

The memory of 14 December 2022 will be hard to shake once the teams walk out. That night, France won 2-0 thanks to goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani. Morocco still caused plenty of problems for the eventual finalists, though, and exited after posting the best run ever by an African side at a World Cup.

On Thursday night, history brings the two sides together again, with a place in the 2026 World Cup semi-finals on the line after 90 minutes, or more if needed.
