Broncos vs Titans: Queensland derby with the heat turned all the way up
The season is moving on, and chances to spark a run are getting fewer and fewer. For the Broncos, this derby against the Titans feels close to a must-win.
Beaten in their last four outings, Brisbane do not have much room left for error if they want to stay in the hunt near the top. Gold Coast, meanwhile, keep edging forward quietly and arrive at Suncorp Stadium looking to cash in on the doubts hovering around their neighbours.
On paper, Brisbane are still favourites. On recent form, though, the gap looks a lot smaller.
The Broncos can not afford another slip
Last week’s loss to the Dragons felt like a proper wake-up call.
For Brisbane to go down against a side that had been on a long losing run was bad enough. The manner of it made it look even uglier.
Behind for most of the night, the Broncos did claw it back late, but the final 30-26 scoreline flatters a performance that was well short of the mark.
Amid the mess, one man did show up: Payne Haas.
The prop delivered one of his best displays of the season, working relentlessly on both sides of the ball. Without him, it could have got much worse.
The call to drop Ezra Mam from the Broncos’ starting side says plenty about the club’s desire to jolt things into life.
This week, the job is likely simpler: tighten up, control the territory and stop giving away the cheap errors that have cost them so dearly lately.
The Titans are heading in the right direction
The Titans’ season is not exactly making headlines, but some of the progress is real.
After years of repeat issues on the defensive side, Gold Coast are showing more steel in that area.
It is far from perfect. But they are conceding fewer points than in 2025 and look better organised when things get messy.
That could matter in a derby where the Broncos are still searching for their attacking rhythm.
Up front, Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and Moeaki Fotuaika keep bringing power and punch. Behind them, Keano Kini is backing up every week that he has the talent to become one of the most exciting players in the competition.
The main issue, though, is still scoring efficiency.
The Titans sit among the lowest-scoring sides in the league and often struggle to build pressure in sustained waves. A lot still depends on a moment from Jayden Campbell or a burst from Kini.
Against a Broncos side that should look very different defensively after last week’s let-down, the visitors will need a very clean performance if they are to spring a surprise.
The battle that could decide it
All eyes will be on the clash between Payne Haas and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui.
Two of the NRL’s best forwards will go head to head in a contest that could decide which side owns the middle of the field.
At the back, the duel between Reece Walsh and Keano Kini also deserves top billing. Both bring the same kind of threat: pace, imagination and the ability to make something out of nothing.
In a game that may not open up, it is those individual sparks that could swing it.

NRL Prediction Broncos vs Titans
Under 52.5 points in the match
The Broncos are going through a rough patch and will probably be focused first and foremost on finding some stability rather than putting on an attacking show.
The Titans have improved defensively, but they still struggle to create chances with any regularity.
To beat this line, you would likely need a wild, broken contest loaded with mistakes, turnovers and a few soft tries.
Under normal conditions, this looks more like a tight, low-scoring battle.

First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it never really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, at some point, that is unavoidable.
- The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live. And above all: do not chase losses. That rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts to take up too much space in your daily life, if it winds you up or puts you under pressure, take a break. And if you need to, speak to a specialist organisation. That is what they are there for.
- At the end of the day, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never go away, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is illegal for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast (money losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain terms: you cannot use them to claim anything if a bet loses.
Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes (like Brisbane’s, for example), a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before placing a bet, just check that gambling is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
Responsible gambling first
We cannot say it enough: gamble in moderation. If you are struggling to keep control, do not wait to seek help. We cannot be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on the site.
Legal age
