Transfer talk: Vlahovic leaves Juventus for free, Napoli and the Premier League ready to pounce
It is over between Dusan Vlahovic and Juventus. The 26-year-old Serbia striker met the Bianconeri hierarchy at Continassa on Wednesday morning in a last bid to thrash out a new deal. Talks went nowhere. Juventus decided his wage demands were too steep, and the two sides walked away without an agreement. Vlahovic will be free to sign wherever he likes from 1 July.
According to reports in Italy, the Serbian wants 8 million euros net per season. That is a figure few clubs in Serie A can match. Napoli are said to be best placed to land the forward and could move fast. Inter Milan and AC Milan have also been linked, but both clubs would need to sell before they could even think about a deal like that. At Inter, Marcus Thuram is being mentioned as a possible departure to free up the necessary funds.

Saudi Arabia and the Premier League enter the picture
Beyond Italy, Vlahovic is drawing interest abroad. The Premier League looks a natural fit for a striker with his profile, someone who can bully defenders and deliver at the top level. Saudi Arabia could also step in, with financial terms hard to turn down for a player coming to the end of his contract and able to negotiate on his own terms.
Roma are also being mentioned, but the capital club are mainly looking for a backup option, which does not really match the expectations of a player of Vlahovic’s standing. Free of contract, once a guaranteed starter for Juventus and Serbia, the forward is one of the most tempting opportunities of the summer window. The offers should not be long in coming.
