Panthers vs Warriors: top-of-the-table clash put under the Origin spotlight
A Warriors side chasing down the Panthers? The NRL weekend ends with a bang as Penrith and New Zealand meet in a genuine heavyweight showdown, with both clubs sitting at the top of the ladder for the first time since the 2025 finals. It is a real shame this one at CommBank Stadium comes straight after State of Origin, forcing both camps to rip up their plans because the schedule has been relentless.
Penrith may have the historical edge, but the Warriors arrive across the Tasman full of belief and keen to add another scalp to the wall. In a Round 13 contest where freshness will matter more than anything, the result over 80 minutes will hinge on how both teams cope with heavily changed line-ups.
The Panthers face the headache of managing their stars
Even with the benefit of a recent week off, Penrith are paying the price for being the go-to club for representative football. Coach Ivan Cleary has made the big call to rest Nathan Cleary, Isaah Yeo and Brian To’o, while youngster Casey McLean starts on the bench.
To cover the gaps, Jack Cogger will partner Blaize Talagi in the halves, while tough second-rower Liam Martin returns from a knee injury in a much-anticipated comeback.
With the spine reshuffled, the usual leaders will be all about territory and defensive discipline rather than throwing caution to the wind and inviting the Warriors to strike on the break.
Ambitious Warriors missing a few heavy hitters
The Warriors, for their part, have become a side that is brutally hard to shift away from home, as shown by four straight wins on Australian soil.
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s season-ending injury is a major blow and pushes Adam Pompey into the centres, while coach Andrew Webster has also opted to spare his internationals Mitch Barnett and Kurt Capewell.
If they are to come through in hostile territory, the Warriors will need Chanel Harris-Tavita and Te Maire Martin to control the tempo and keep the game on their terms.
The plan will be to lock down the middle, complete close to everything, and hammer away with long pressure kicks to deny Penrith’s inexperienced replacements any decent ball.
Key numbers before kick-off
The recent record points squarely toward Penrith, who have won 10 of their last 11 meetings with the Warriors. On top of that, CommBank Stadium has been a private garden for the home side, with nine wins from their last 10 there.
That team edge hides some serious individual battles out wide. Brian To’o’s absence, after scoring 8 tries in 7 games against the Warriors, eases some pressure on the visitors’ defence, but the main threat is Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, with the Warriors winger in outrageous form and 12 tries in his last 7 appearances.
Try it for $0.99.
NRL Prediction Panthers vs Warriors
Under 49.5 total points in the match.
With so many players rested through injury or State of Origin duty, this one looks tight and gritty.

First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks obvious, it is never that simple. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, at some point, you probably will.
- The best approach is to keep things sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all, do not chase losses – that rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it is taking up too much space in your life, making you angry or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist support service. That is what it is there for.
- In the end, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Important reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast, leading to financial losses, family tension and addiction. Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain English: you cannot rely on them to claim anything if a bet fails.
Fast-moving information
A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But after that, a team sheet changes (as with the Warriors, for example), a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly go stale. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before betting, make sure wagers are legal where you are. If they are not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
Responsible gambling first
We cannot say it often enough: gamble in moderation. If you are struggling to stay in control, do not wait to get help. We cannot be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on the site.
Legal age
mathodds content is for adults only. By using this site, you confirm that you are old enough by law to place bets.
