Parramatta Eels vs Melbourne Storm – Free NRL prediction and picks – May 16, 2026

Eels vs Storm: a pressure cooker to finish Super Saturday National Rugby League — Wikipedia

The final game of Super Saturday, Magic Round style, serves up a cracking contest between the Eels and the Storm. Two sides that arrive brimming with confidence after finally finding a win again last week.

For the Storm, that result was mainly about ending a nightmare run that had started to worry the whole club. Parramatta’s story is different: despite the injuries and the setbacks, the Eels keep showing real fight.

With Suncorp Stadium set to be bouncing, this one could get a lot more open than some expect.

Parramatta finally has a bit of hope again Parramatta Eels - Wikipedia

The season is still a slog for the Eels, but their dramatic win in Townsville may have shifted something mentally.

Plenty of teams would have folded in those circumstances. Parramatta didn’t.

Despite an injury list that is still too long and a brutal trip to face the Cowboys, Jason Ryles’ men found a way to win 33-30 in extra time in a madcap game.

What stood out most was the quality of their attack.

With more than 90% of passes completed, loads of metres made with the ball and several dangerous breaks, the Eels finally looked slick in attack again.

Mitchell Moses once again showed why he is still the real boss of this side. His control of the tempo and his calm in the big moments did Parramatta plenty of good.

Around him, a few others are starting to matter more and more too.

Josh Addo-Carr remains a constant threat whenever he finds a sliver of space, while Joash Papalii continues to develop at a frightening rate at fullback.

Even defensively, despite plenty of missed tackles, the Eels showed a level of togetherness that had been missing for weeks.

This team is still far from complete, but it is slowly starting to find its identity again.

In Melbourne, the relief was huge after the 44-16 win over the Tigers.

After seven straight defeats, the Storm badly needed a statement performance to drag their season back from the brink.

And for once, they looked like Melbourne again: controlled, sharp and in charge.

Four tries in the opening 12 minutes, a far more dangerous attack and, crucially, a side that never let the doubt creep back in.

The return of Jahrome Hughes has clearly changed the look of the Storm.

The Dally M winner immediately brought order back to the attack, and his combination with Cameron Munster is finally starting to click. The pair kept putting the opposition under pressure with direct, quick, aggressive play around the ruck.

What will please Craig Bellamy most is the defensive intensity.

For weeks, Melbourne had been falling apart whenever games got messy. This time, they stayed on top from start to finish.

Bellamy now wants another one.

Because one win will not wipe away two months of worry.

A wide-open battle at Suncorp

This has the makings of a big attacking show.

On one side, Parramatta has enough firepower out wide to rip apart any defence when it gets rolling. On the other, the Storm look to have rediscovered a bit of belief and, more importantly, their edge with the ball.

The battle between Mitchell Moses and Jahrome Hughes will be right at the heart of it.

Both playmakers come in full of confidence after last week, and their ability to control the tempo could swing this game completely.

Magic Round adds another layer too.

More than 50,000 fans are expected, the noise will be relentless and both teams know a win could reshape their momentum before State of Origin period.

It all points to a fast, frantic contest.

NRL Prediction Eels vs Storm

Josh Addo-Carr to score a try

When Parramatta creates space, Josh Addo-Carr remains one of the most dangerous weapons in the NRL. His pace makes the difference time and time again, and the Storm have shown some weakness out wide this season.

With Mitchell Moses able to create gaps in a flash, “The Foxx” could well find the line again in what should be a very open game.

First, a word on our picks

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We’re sharing an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is still sport: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it never really is. And yes, that means you can lose. It is inevitable at some point.
  • The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all: do not chase losses, it rarely ends well.
  • A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your life, if it gets under your skin or puts you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, talk to a specialist support service. That is what it is there for.
  • In the end, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Important reminder: betting is banned for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast, with money losses, family tension and addiction. Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our picks are not a contract. They carry no legal weight. In plain terms: you cannot use them to claim anything if a bet loses.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes (the Storm’s, for example), a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can be out of date in no time. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your role

Before you bet, check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.

Responsible gambling first

We cannot say it often enough: gamble in moderation. If you struggle to keep control, do not wait to get help. We cannot be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on the site.

Legal age

mathodds content is for adults only. By using this site, you confirm that you are old enough to bet under the law.
