Borussia Dortmund – Eintracht Frankfurt: Signal Iduna Park set for a second-place finish
The Yellow Wall is about to roar for the final time this league season. Borussia Dortmund host Eintracht Frankfurt with one clear job: lock down second place in the Bundesliga once and for all. A win on Friday would rubber-stamp a strong campaign and keep them ahead of RB Leipzig. Dortmund want to send their fans home happy after a season built on consistency at Signal Iduna Park. The title may have slipped away, but finishing runners-up would still mark a solid return for Niko Kovac’s project.
Borussia Dortmund face a test at the back
Despite a recent defeat to Gladbach, Dortmund have everything they need to take the points. The problem is the back line, which has been hit hard by injuries. With key men such as Emre Can and Niklas Sule missing, Dortmund have had to shuffle the deck, with youngster Reggiani set to step in. They will be leaning on their attacking edge, with Serhou Guirassy expected to do the damage early. Twelve home wins in 16 matches tells its own story: this side is a serious force on their own turf. In midfield, Sabitzer and Jobe Bellingham will be tasked with dictating the pace. There is another target too: Dortmund are chasing their best points total in seven years, which is plenty of fuel on its own. Everyone in the Dortmund camp knows Frankfurt are fighting for their European lives, so this is not as straightforward as it looks. Even so, Dortmund’s collective strength looks greater than Frankfurt’s individual threats. They will also be desperate to avoid a repeat of the reverse fixture, which finished 3-3, by shutting the game down earlier. Victory is a must if they are to head into the final day without any unnecessary nerves. If they get it done, Dortmund will further cement their place among Germany’s top two.
Eintracht Frankfurt are all in for Europe
For Frankfurt, the equation is simple: they need points to grab the last European spot. Sitting eighth, Albert Riera’s side are going through a rough patch, with three games without a win. Without suspended Rasmus Kristensen, Frankfurt will have to pull off something special on a ground where they rarely come away with anything. Jonathan Burkardt is likely to be the main threat against Dortmund’s reshuffled defence, but Frankfurt’s poor form carries real weight here. They have won just one of their last 10 away games, which hardly screams confidence before a trip to the BVB.
Likely line-ups
Borussia Dortmund : Kobel ; Reggiani, Anton, Schlotterbeck ; Ryerson, Sabitzer, Bellingham, Svensson ; Brandt, Beier ; Guirassy
Eintracht Frankfurt : Zetterer ; Amenda, Koch, Theate, Brown ; Uzun, Larsson, Hojlund ; Doan, Burkardt, Bahoya

Football prediction Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Borussia Dortmund to win
Dortmund are strong favourites for their final home show of the season at Signal Iduna Park. Even with the defensive absences, the firepower led by Guirassy and Brandt should be enough to trouble a Frankfurt side short on confidence and usually shaky on the road.
The BVB have turned their stadium into a fortress this year, losing only to the two heavyweights, Bayern and Leverkusen. Against an Eintracht team struggling for goals and travelling badly, Niko Kovac’s side have every reason to wrap up second place in the Bundesliga in style.

First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is still sport: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal out of nowhere… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks obvious, it never really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, it will happen sooner or later.
- The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Above all, do not touch money you need to live on. And never chase losses; it rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking over your daily life, making you angry or putting you under pressure, step away. And if you need to, speak to a specialist support service. That’s what they’re there for.
- In the end, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis is.
- Important reminder: betting is forbidden for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast, with financial losses, family tension and addiction. Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No obligation on our part
Our predictions are not a contract. They carry no legal force. In plain terms: you cannot use them to claim anything if a bet loses.
Information moves fast
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But after that, a team sheet changes, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly go stale. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before placing a bet, simply check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
