Utah Mammoth – Vegas Golden Knights: Utah aim to pull away!
The series is gradually tilting Utah’s way, with the Mammoth now 2-1 up after three bruising games. Utah have looked the steadier side when it matters, while Vegas, for all their solid play, keep shooting themselves in the foot with sluggish starts. The big question is simple: can Vegas finally put together a clean game, or will the home side again dictate the pace with ruthless efficiency?
Utah: ruthless efficiency
Utah were brutally efficient in Game 3. With just 12 shots, the Mammoth still found four goals, a clear sign they know exactly how to handle the key moments. By the middle of the second period, they were already 4-0 up, which let them steer the game comfortably from there.
Their success comes from punishing every mistake the opposition makes. Special teams have also been a weapon, with a perfect power-play return. Still, Utah can’t get too comfortable because Vegas controlled the shot count by a mile. The Mammoth are leaning heavily on their goaltender to absorb that pressure. At home, they’ll look to clamp things down from the first drop of the puck. If they keep this level of finishing, Vegas will have a mountain to climb. Utah know a 3-1 lead would be close to fatal for the Knights. And they’ll bank on their discipline to keep Nevada’s forwards frustrated.
Vegas: stop the bleeding early
Vegas’ biggest problem is the way they keep having dead patches. Give the other side a four-goal cushion and you’re chasing ghosts. On pure play, though, Vegas haven’t been bad at all: more than 30 shots and constant pressure around the net. The issue is that without an immediate payoff, all that territory and all that puck possession adds up to very little.
Eichel and Dowd tried to spark a response in the last game, but by then the damage was done. To level the series, Vegas must tighten up at the back from the opening minutes and stop gifting cheap chances off turnovers in the neutral zone.

NHL Pick Mammoth vs Golden Knights
Under 6.5 goals
For all the twists, this series has not exactly been a goal fest. In the first three games, neither side has managed to push the combined total beyond six. Utah prefer structure and scoreboard control over freewheeling hockey, while Vegas have struggled to turn their volume into actual damage.
Game 4 now carries real weight. Vegas cannot afford to get reckless at the back, and Utah will be focused on protecting their series lead. That shared caution points to a tight, nervy contest where every mistake gets punished. Under 6.5 goals looks the smartest play.
