Boston Bruins – Buffalo Sabres: Game 3 has a bit of edge about it!
This series has been completely wild. Buffalo clawed back from two goals down in Game 1 and Boston almost blew a four-goal lead in Game 2. Now the series shifts to the Bruins’ barn, and we’ll find out who has the stronger nerve. Buffalo have shown they won’t go quietly, but Massachusetts’ depth is starting to tip the scales.
Boston: the second line wakes up
The good news for the Boston Bruins is that the supporting cast has finally stepped up. In the last win, Arvidsson and Zacha carried the Bruins while the stars were getting tied up. That’s what makes Boston so tough to handle: shut down the top line and the danger pops up somewhere else.
Another strength for the Bruins is their penalty kill. A perfect 9 for 9 through the series, and they’re smothering Buffalo’s chances. Even so, Boston still has that habit of switching off when they lead, and it nearly cost them. Tonight, they’ll need to stay locked in for 60 minutes in front of their own fans. Boston know their attack is ticking over nicely and they can score in just about any situation. If they bring the physical pace early, Buffalo could struggle to keep up. And with home ice on their side, the Bruins will be looking to put this thing to bed.
Buffalo: an electricity outage on the power play
The Sabres have been fine at even strength, but the wheels come off as soon as they get a man advantage. Zero goals from nine chances in the series, and a run of 31 straight misses if you include the regular season – that’s a millstone around their neck. Against the Boston Bruins, that won’t wash.
Luukkonen wasn’t exactly rock solid in the last game either, shipping four goals, including one he really should’ve kept out. The coach is even weighing up a change in net for tonight. If Buffalo want to make a dent on the road, they’ll need to sharpen their finishing and hope their goalie plays the game of his life to hold off the home attack.
NHL Pick Bruins vs Sabres
Boston Bruins over 2.5 goals
The numbers tell the story: Boston have scored at least three goals in every game of the series so far. Their attack is steady and keeps cashing in on Buffalo’s defensive lapses. At home, there is little reason to think that stops now.
With more depth through the lineup and a Sabres side looking shaky in front of goal, backing the hosts to score at least three makes the most sense. The call is Boston over 2.5 team goals, a solid angle given how the first two games have unfolded.
Before anything else, a word on our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It’s an opinion, a read on where things stand right now, never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks certain, it really isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. At some point, you will.
- The best approach is to keep it sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And above all, don’t chase losses – that usually ends badly.
- A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking over your day, getting on your nerves or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if you need help, speak to a specialist group. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk is part of the deal and never goes away, no matter how good the analysis looks.
- Important reminder: betting is banned for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast, bringing money problems, family tension and addiction. Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

Information changes fast
A pick is always based on what we know at the time it is written. But lineups change, players get hurt, the weather turns ugly… and the analysis can quickly go stale. We cannot be held responsible for that.
