Le Havre vs Auxerre: survival scrap at the Stade Océane
This Sunday, the Stade Océane hosts a proper relegation six-pointer. Le Havre (14th) and Auxerre (16th) go toe to toe in a game where the nerves will be jangling from the first whistle. Same mission for both sides: grab vital points and get the hell away from the drop zone.
The HAC are still looking for the answer
It’s been grim on the Normandy coast for weeks now. Luka Elsner’s men are winless in five, and that includes a nasty 3-2 collapse against Paris FC. They’ve got a little breathing room, sure, but another bad result would drag them dangerously close to the trapdoor.
The big problem for the Sky and Navy this season? Their home attack. The Stade Océane crowd has had precious little to cheer, with goals in short supply — Le Havre have blanked in five of their last eight home games. If they’re going to stay up, they’ll have to open up, rattle the opposition back line and start scoring in front of their own fans again. The head-to-head edge is on their side, too: they’ve won three on the spin against AJA.
Auxerre want to end the away-day curse
Back in Burgundy, the mood is cautiously brighter. AJ Auxerre have hauled themselves back on track lately, stringing together a decent run of results — unbeaten in six of their last eight league outings. That bit of resilience has given them some breathing space, with a five-point cushion over Nantes, the first side in the bottom three.
But the same old problem won’t go away: the second Auxerre leave the Abbé-Deschamps, they tend to fall apart. Just seven miserable away points all season says it all. That’s one of the club’s worst travelling records this century. Against a direct rival, the visitors will probably sit deep at first, soak up the pressure, then try to hit on the break and nick the lot.
Likely line-ups
Le Havre : Diaw ; Nego, Sangante, Seko, Koffi ; N’Diaye, Gourna-Douath, Ebonog, Boufal ; Soumare, Mambimbi
Auxerre : De Percin ; Mensah, Okoh, Diomande, Sy ; Oppegard, Danois, Namaso, Owusu, Faivre ; Sinayoko
Football prediction Le Havre vs Auxerre
Both teams to score
This is a scrap at the wrong end of the table, with both sides feeling the hot breath of relegation down their necks.
Le Havre have been blunt in front of their own fans, but they won’t have much choice here: they’ll have to take risks, push forward and force the issue if they want to stay alive. Auxerre, for their part, have looked much better lately, but they’re still far too easy to shake on the road. With two shaky defences, plenty on the line and both clubs desperate for all three points, this should be lively. Goals at both ends looks the sensible call.

Before we start, a word on our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal out of nowhere… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks nailed on, it really isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will lose at some point.
- The smart move is to keep your head. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live. And above all, don’t chase losses — it usually ends badly.
- A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it’s taking over your life, winding you up or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if you need to, speak to a specialist organisation. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day, it’s on you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and never goes away, no matter how good the analysis looks.
- Important reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast (money losses, family strain, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No obligation on our part
Our predictions are not a contract. They carry no legal weight. Put simply: you can’t use them to claim anything if a bet goes wrong.
Changing information
A prediction is always based on what we know when it’s written. But after that, line-ups change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns nasty… and the analysis can be out of date in no time. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
