Illawarra backed into a corner 
Four games, four losses. That’s the ugly truth for St George Illawarra. And it’s not just the results. The performances are just as grim.
Their last outing against the Titans summed up the problem neatly. Decent first half, a hint of control… then nothing. They faded out, slowly and painfully, unable to keep the pace up.

The Cowboys have life again 
North Queensland turn up in a completely different frame of mind. Their win over the Storm did wonders for the ladder and the mood.
What stood out was the fight. They were behind, under the pump… then found a way to flip it in the closing minutes. That’s a side that won’t go away, that keeps hanging on, and eventually makes the other lot crack.
There are still plenty of rough edges, especially defensively, but the energy and the response under pressure are good signs.
Now comes the real test: back it up. One win doesn’t mean much in a season this long.
Already a turning point?
This one already has the feel of a season-defining night. The Dragons are almost playing for short-term survival, while the Cowboys can prove the spark is real.
Matches like this are usually all edge, no comfort. One slip and the whole thing can swing.
