Atlanta Hawks – Sacramento Kings: Atlanta aiming to lock down their spot against a Kings side going through the motions
Tonight, State Farm Arena serves up a clash of opposite moods. The Atlanta Hawks are scrapping to secure a direct playoff berth, while the Sacramento Kings already look like they’ve checked out for the season. After a frustrating loss to Boston, Atlanta have the perfect trap game to bounce back and shore up their position against one of the league’s worst outfits.
Atlanta Hawks: foot to the floor
In Georgia, almost everything is pointing the right way for Atlanta. Their standing gives them a clear shot at a direct playoff spot — provided they don’t slip up in the run-in. On the court the Hawks play blistering, no-apologies basketball. Yes, they concede a lot (about 118 points per game), but that’s on pace — they push tempo and dare opponents to keep up.
Offensively they’re humming at roughly 117 points a night. Remember those huge scoring nights against Detroit (130-129) and Memphis (146-107)? This roster is built to run, full of athletes who sprint in transition and attack the rim. Expect Atlanta to stamp the first 24 minutes and try to suffocate a Sacramento team with no fight left.
Sacramento Kings: DeMar DeRozan, captain of a sinking ship
Out west it’s a full-blown meltdown. The Kings are stuck near the bottom of the West, winning barely a quarter of their games. The staff have basically admitted defeat and are tanking openly: starters are shelved for “niggles” or given rests. The result is ugly, like that 90-134 shellacking by Charlotte.
In the middle of the wreckage, only veteran DeMar DeRozan still bothers to show up. In the last game versus Orlando (a 117-121 loss) he stuffed the stat sheet with 33 points and 11 assists, but it felt like yelling into a void. The rest of the roster is mostly bench fodder who don’t have enough to hang in the NBA. Against pumped-up Hawks, this could get ugly fast.

NBA Pick Atlanta Hawks vs Sacramento Kings
Under 239.5 points
Bookmakers have Atlanta massive favorites — fair play to them, we agree. The Hawks need this win, they’re at home, and that Boston loss will fire them up to start sharp. Atlanta’s offense can explode, sure, but the value is on the other end.
Sacramento’s lineup is thin, mostly role players with nothing to chase, so Atlanta’s defense — much-maligned at times — shouldn’t need to overwork to protect the paint. The Kings are likely to struggle to hit 100 points. A 239.5 total looks wildly generous for this matchup. We’re backing the Under.

First, a word about our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses — opinions, not guarantees. We offer a reading of the moment, nothing more. Sport is unpredictable: a red card, an injury, a freak play… and the whole script flips.
- Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something seems “obvious”, it rarely is. Yes, that means you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
- Best practice: be sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — that rarely ends well.
- Betting should be a game, not a job or an income stream. If it’s taking over your life, stressing you out or making you angry, take a break. If needed, reach out to a specialist organization. That’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept the risk remains, even with the clearest analysis.
- Essential reminder: betting is forbidden for minors and must follow your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tensions, addiction). Need help? Helpline: 09 74 75 13 13 (standard rate) https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No promises from us
Our picks aren’t a contract. They carry no legal weight. In plain terms: you can’t hold us responsible if a bet doesn’t land.
Info can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. Between then and tip-off a lineup can change, a player can get hurt, conditions can shift… and our analysis can become outdated. We can’t be held responsible for that.
