Marseille – Auxerre: Marseille aim to move clear into third 
Kick‑off to matchweek 26 on Friday and Marseille have their sights set on sole possession of third. Auxerre turn up with survival written all over them after a recent 0-0 at Strasbourg — desperate, dangerous and ready to cling on.
Marseille have found their groove 
This season had its fair share of grim faces, but Marseille have kicked back into life lately. A scrappy 1-0 at Toulouse hauled them level with Lyon for third — and the dream of a straight Champions League spot is very much alive.
Since Habib Beye took charge the Velodrome has mostly gone back to being a proper fortress at home, apart from that shock 2-0 reverse at Nantes in early January. Still, they can’t get complacent: Rennes, the manager’s former club, sit only three points behind. No stumbles allowed, especially not against a lowly opponent. Marseille have generally picked up the points they should against teams in the drop zone this season — Nantes was the one glaring exception.
Auxerre cling to the hope of staying up 
Wins are rare for the Burgundy side, but Christophe Pélissier’s men have been scraping points with a steady grind since February. Only one loss in their last six games — that heavy 3-0 at Rennes — has left Auxerre sitting in the playoff spot at 16th. Automatic safety (Nice) is five points ahead, but automatic relegation (Nantes) is just two points behind them.
They still lug around the label of the league’s worst attack (just 19 goals), yet oddly they’ve woken up on the road: five goals in their last two away trips — more than they’d managed away all season before that. And to make the Velodrome owners sweat, Auxerre have won two of their last three league meetings with Marseille — including a thumping 3-1 here last season.
