Cagliari – Como: Como want to gatecrash the top four
This Saturday afternoon Sardinia serves up a clash of styles. Como — the nouveau riche flirting with the summit of Serie A — travel to a Cagliari stuck in mid-table, grinding points to make sure they stay up.
Como are hungry
What Cesc Fabregas has built with Como reads like a proper fairy tale. On course for a Champions League slot less than two years after their return to the top flight, the Lombard side are also still alive in the Coppa Italia. On Tuesday they held Inter to a goalless first-leg semi. A tight, locked game — and they nearly nicked the perfect coup when Alex Valle somehow fluffed a sitter from point-blank range early in the second half.
But forget finals for a day. Back to the league and the momentum here is staggering. After taking Juventus’s scalp 2-0 — again — Como calmly saw off Lecce last weekend. They sit fifth now, just above the Old Lady. Sure, the chequebook helped, but Fabregas’s fingerprints are all over this: they’re about 20 points better off than this time last season. Only Roma have conceded fewer goals, and Como travel like winners — four wins in their last five away trips, 12 scored and just one conceded. One fly in the ointment: Como have never won a top-flight game in Cagliari.
Cagliari must get tough at home
Cagliari’s emergency looks different. Last week Michael Folorunsho finally ended a nasty scoring drought with a thunderbolt, breaking a run of three games without a goal. It wasn’t enough for three points though — Parma came back late to nick a draw.
Despite sitting 13th, the drop zone is breathing down their necks — only six points separate them from trouble. Fabio Pisacane’s men need to bulk up at home. Four wins from 13 home games doesn’t scream fortress. And the run of fixtures is brutal: Como this weekend, then Napoli next. Time to put the barbed wire back up.
Probable lineups
Cagliari : Caprile ; Ze Pedro, Mina, Dossena ; Palestra, Adopo, Sulemana, Folorunsho, Obert ; Esposito, Kilicsoy
Como : Butez ; Smolcic, Ramon, Kempf, Valle ; Perrone, Da Cunha ; Vojvoda, Paz, Rodriguez ; Douvikas
Football Prediction Cagliari vs Como
Draw
Como keep turning heads and showed tactical maturity in the cup this week.
That said, Cagliari are fighting for survival with a knife to their throat and have made a habit of clinging on at home. Expect the hosts to grind out a scrappy, ugly game to nick a point. A draw lets the Islanders keep their distance from the relegation scrap while putting a halt to some of Como’s starry ambitions.

First, a word about our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses — nothing more. We offer an opinion, a snapshot read of the moment, never a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the script flips.
- Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it’s not certain. Yes, that means you can lose. It will happen at some point.
- The smart move is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
- Betting should stay a pastime, not a job or a revenue stream. If it’s taking over your life, stressing you out or causing problems, take a break. If needed, speak to a specialist organisation. That’s what they’re there for.
- In the end, responsibility sits with you. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and it won’t vanish, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must comply with your local laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No liability on our part

Information can change
A prediction reflects what we know when we write it. Between then and kick-off a lineup can change, a player can pick up a knock, the weather can turn — and the analysis can become obsolete. We can’t be held responsible for that.
