Nantes – Angers: Canaries fighting for survival at the Beaujoire
Saturday the Beaujoire hosts a proper relegation scrap in Matchday 25. Second-from-bottom Nantes are running out of time — no more mistakes if they want to extend a 13-year top-flight run. Angers arrive with doubts of their own.
Nantes on the brink
That tidy 2-0 at Le Havre in Matchday 23 snapped a five-game losing skid and gave the yellow-and-green fans a lift. It lasted about as long as a warm-up. Last weekend Kantari’s side reverted to type at Lille — collapsed in the 94th when the point looked theirs.
Now they have to pick up the pieces at home. The aim this weekend? Grab a second straight home win — something they haven’t managed since autumn 2023. In the table, staying up outright (15th, Nice) is a mirage, ten points away. The playoff spot (16th, Auxerre) is only a point off. With 15 losses already this season, the Canaries must start taking points to stop the rot.
Angers can’t travel
Form offers no comfort for Angers either. Alexandre Dujeux’s side blew the end of February — three straight defeats to Lorient, Lille and Monaco, and not a single goal. A nasty wake-up after a decent unbeaten run where the defense had kept things tight (1-0 wins over Metz and Toulouse, plus a solid 0-0 with PSG).
The big stone in Angers’ shoe is their away record. In 2026 they still haven’t won on the road — three defeats in four away games and shut out in the last three trips. Just nine points and six away goals all season (only Le Havre worse with five). Angers (12th) look a pale version of themselves outside Anjou, where they’ve at least picked up 20 points.
Probable line-ups
Nantes : Lopes ; Awaziem, Yusuf, Cozza ; Centonze, Kaba, Lepenant, Tabibou ; Cabella, Albine ; Mohamed
Angers : Pona ; Arcus, Camara, Lefort, Hanin ; Belkebla, Van den Boomen ; Raolisoa, Belkhdim, Sbai ; Koyalipou
Football Prediction Nantes vs Angers
Nantes to win
On paper this is the classic banana-skin. Nantes have struggled at home — one win in their last 10. Angers are blunt and brittle away from home.
It could easily turn into a cagey, locked-down draw. But Nantes have survival instincts and a crowd that will shove them. Backing Nantes to nick it, probably by the skin of their teeth.

First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It’s our take, our read at this moment — not a promise. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the script flips.
- Let’s be blunt: there are no risk-free bets. Even when something looks “obvious”, it isn’t. Yes, that means you can lose. It will happen.
- Best practice: be sensible. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need for living. And do not chase losses — that rarely ends well.
- Betting should stay a hobby, not a job or income source. If it’s taking over your life, making you anxious or stressed, take a break. If needed, contact a specialist support service. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and won’t vanish, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Important reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must comply with your local law. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us

Information can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write. Team sheets change, players pick up knocks, weather turns nasty… analysis can be out of date fast. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
