Celta Vigo – Real Madrid: Real Madrid on the ropes
This Friday night Real Madrid head to Celta with a mountain on their backs. Two clumsy slips in the league have cost them dearly and they’re now four points behind leaders Barcelona. Celta, meanwhile, are buzzing and cling to sixth place like a dog to a bone.
Celta mean business
The home side arrive flying. Wins over Mallorca and Girona have shoved them up to sixth, with a four-point cushion on Espanyol and only three behind Betis in fifth. Claudio Giraldez’s side are clicking — four straight victories across all competitions, including that Europa League scalp over PAOK, which sets up a tasty round of 16 tie with Lyon in a few days.
A reality check though: Celta don’t always boss it at Balaídos — only 4 wins in 13 home games this season. And they face the league’s best away team: Real have grabbed 27 points from 13 trips. Still, Celta have real cause for optimism. They already stunned Madrid with a 2-0 win at the Bernabéu in December 2025 and would love to complete the double. Just remember they haven’t beaten Madrid in front of their own fans since May 2014.
Real in full-blown crisis
Let’s not sugarcoat it: Real are in a rough patch. Back-to-back poor results against Osasuna and Getafe have left marks. Álvaro Arbeloa knows there’s no room for slack if they want to keep Barcelona in sight.
The real problem is the injury list. The squad is missing its main weapon and top scorer, Kylian Mbappé, and the club just got the worst news — Rodrygo looks set to miss the rest of the season with a serious ACL injury. The schedule coming up gives everyone sleepless nights: Manchester City at the Bernabéu in the Champions League last 16 next week, a tricky trip to Elche, the return leg in Manchester, and the fierce Madrid derby with Atlético at the end of March. Arbeloa will need to speak plainly and fast or this could turn into a full-on collapse.
Probable lineups
Celta Vigo : Radu ; Rodriguez, Aidoo, Dominguez ; Mingueza, Roman, Moriba, Carreira ; Jutgla, Iglesias, Alvarez
Real Madrid : Courtois ; Alexander-Arnold, Rudiger, Huijsen, Carreras ; Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga ; Guler ; G Garcia, Vinicius
Football Tip Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid
Draw
Real Madrid have a knife at their throat and must react now if they don’t want Barcelona to run away. But against a Celta side full of confidence and with no fear, this is a match packed with risk for a Real squad torn apart by injuries.
Celta have the tools to trouble this convalescent Madrid team. Expect an open game, goals at both ends, and a lively draw looks like the fairest prediction in this scrap.

First, a word on our tips
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses — opinions, nothing more. We give a read on the moment. We don’t hand out guarantees. Sport stays random. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the whole script flips.
- Let’s be blunt: there’s no bet without risk. Even when something looks “obvious”, nothing’s certain. Yes, that means you can lose. You will, at some point.
- Be sensible. Bet small, set a bankroll and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. Don’t chase losses — that never ends well.
- Betting should stay a hobby, not a job or income source. If it’s taking over your life, making you anxious or stressed, stop and get help. There are specialists for that.
- At the end of the day the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept the risk remains, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Important reminder: betting is prohibited to minors and must follow your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need help? Players Info Service: 09 74 75 13 13 (non-premium-rate) https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our tips aren’t a contract. They carry no legal weight. In plain terms: you can’t hold us responsible or demand compensation if a bet goes wrong.
Info can change
A tip is based on what we know when we write it. Between then and kick-off a lineup can change, a player can pick up an injury, the weather can turn… and the analysis can become outdated. We can’t be held liable for that.
Your role
Before you bet, make sure gambling is legal where you live. If it isn’t, that’s on you, not us.
