Getafe – Villarreal: Yellow Submarine on the march
A bruising ground, a battle of nerves, and two teams stuck for completely different reasons. Saturday afternoon Getafe host Villarreal under very different pressure. The Azulones have finally caught a breath after steadying themselves. Villarreal, the Yellow Submarine, are looking up and dreaming of European nights. Different paths, same order: don’t slip up.
Getafe: keep their heads above water
Long trapped near the bottom, Getafe have finally found some oxygen. Five points from the last three rounds, draws with Girona and Celta, then a tidy 2-0 win over Alavés. Immediate result: 11th place — calming, not comforting. The margin is thin. Only four points above the drop zone. In this tight LaLiga everything can flip in a fortnight. Six points separate 18th and 10th. It’s a tightrope.
The issue is obvious: Getafe score very little. 18 goals in 23 games, the second-worst attack in the league. At home it’s hardly better: third-worst home record in LaLiga, just 12 points from 11 matches. The Coliseum pushes, bites and creaks, but it hasn’t smiled much this season. Against a technically sharper opponent the brief is simple: shut up shop, nick something, survive, and pray for a flash of luck.
Villarreal: aim high, don’t look back
By contrast Villarreal are humming a different tune — European nights, big occasions. The 4-1 destruction of Espanyol reset the clock after a horror late January that saw four straight defeats in all competitions. Marcelino tightened the screws, steadied the ship and got a group playing closer to its identity. There was a decent draw at Osasuna before the big win. The Yellow Submarine is moving again.
Fourth with 45 points after 22 matches, Villarreal sit level with Atlético and seven points clear of Betis. Crucially they have a game in hand — suddenly the top three isn’t a mirage. History matters too: Villarreal have lost only nine of 48 meetings with Getafe and haven’t lost to the Madrid side since January 2019. That run counts, especially in a nasty little ground. And away from home Villarreal travel well — fourth-best away record in LaLiga this season. Solid argument.
Probable lineups
Getafe: Soria ; Abqar, Duarte, Romero ; Femenia, Dakonam, Milla, Arambarri, Iglesias ; Vazquez, Satriano
Villarreal: Junior ; Mourino, Veiga, Marin, Pedraza ; Buchanan, Parejo, Gueye, Moleiro ; Pepe, Mikautadze
Football Prediction Getafe vs Villarreal
Villarreal to win
Getafe have found solidity and bite, but Villarreal have more weapons, more depth and a clear ambition. In a match likely to be tight, scrappy and occasionally physical, the Yellow Submarine’s technique and collective control can make the difference. One goal, maybe two. Not more. But enough to leave Madrid with three valuable points.

First — a note on our tips
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We share an opinion, a snapshot reading, but never a guarantee. Sport is wildly unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the whole script changes.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no bet without risk. Even when something looks ‘obvious’, it rarely is. Yes — you can lose. It’s inevitable sooner or later.
- Best plan: be sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — it almost never ends well.
- Betting should be a game, not a job or a source of income. If it’s taking over your life, annoying you or stressing you out, take a break. If needed, talk to a specialist organisation — that’s what they’re for.
- Ultimately the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and won’t disappear, even with the best analysis.
- Important reminder: betting is illegal for minors and must comply with your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral out of control (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need help? Players Info Service: 09 74 75 13 13 (standard rate) • https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No promises from us
Our tips are not a contract. They carry no legal weight. In short: you can’t rely on them to claim anything if a bet fails.
Info can change
A tip is based on what we know when we write it. Team sheets change, players pick up knocks, the weather turns… and the analysis can become outdated fast. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before you bet, check that gambling is legal where you are. If it’s not, that’s on you, not us.
