LOSC – Freiburg: Lille fight for European survival
Lille host Freiburg on Thursday night at the Decathlon Arena for the final matchday of the Europa League group stage. Lille have one option left: win or go home.
LOSC in crisis
The start of the year has been messy for Lille. After a solid end to 2025, they’ve slipped into a run of poor results in the league, the cup and Europe.
Sunday’s 4-1 home defeat by Strasbourg hit hard. Beaten at home, Lille exposed flaws again, and a late goal changed nothing.
In the Europa League the situation is tight. The loss in Vigo left Lille outside the qualifying spots. A win on Thursday is essential to reach the knockout rounds.
Another problem: the Decathlon Arena is no longer a safe haven. Three straight home defeats in 2026, eight goals conceded, just two scored. Hard to calm the fans with numbers like that.
Hamza Igamane’s absence is a real blow. The striker, who had been key in Europe, is out for the season. Lille must find fresh ways to score.
Freiburg arrive calm and confident
Freiburg arrive in the north with far more confidence. The German side are on a solid run and have lost just one of their last eight matches.
In the Europa League their record is impressive. Still unbeaten, they’ve conceded only three goals in seven games and sit third in the group.
Two consecutive home wins have taken pressure off this trip. A draw might well be enough to keep them in a healthy position.
Vincenzo Grifo remains the main attacking threat. The veteran Italian scores regularly and causes problems for defenses, even in tight games.
Likely lineups
Lille: Ozer ; Santos, Ngoy, Ribeiro, Perraud ; Broholm, Mukau, Mandi, Correia ; Haraldsson, Giroud
Freiburg: Atubolu ; Treu, Ginter, Rosenfelder, Gunter ; Eggestein, Osterhage, Beste, Suzuki, Scherhant ; Matanovic
Football Prediction LOSC vs Freiburg
Lille to win
Lille are up against it. At home with qualification on the line they need to show a different side. Freiburg are solid, but the urgency could drag a better Lille performance out of them.

A quick word on our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing else. We share a view, a current take, but never a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the whole script changes.
- Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks obvious, it still isn’t. Yes, you can lose. It will happen at some point.
- Best approach is common sense. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
- Betting should stay a pastime, not a job or a revenue stream. If it’s taking over your life, annoying you or putting you under pressure, take a break. If needed, talk to a specialist organisation — that’s what they do.
- In the end, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept that risk exists and it won’t disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Important reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must comply with your local laws. Gambling can spiral (money losses, family tensions, addiction). Need help? Players Info Service: 09 74 75 13 13 (standard-rate call) https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No promises from us
Our predictions are not a contract. They carry no legal weight. Plain and simple: you can’t rely on them to make claims if a bet loses.
Information can change
A tip is based on what we know when we write it. But between now and kick-off, a lineup (like Lille’s) can change, a player can get injured, the weather can turn… and our analysis becomes outdated. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before you wager, check that betting is legal where you live. If it isn’t, that’s on you, not us.
Responsible gambling first
We won’t say it enough: gamble responsibly. If you struggle to control it, don’t wait to get help. We are not responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on this site.
