Houston Rockets – Memphis Grizzlies: Is Houston too solid?
The Rockets and Grizzlies meet in a straight West Conference clash — two teams heading in very different directions. Add in a handful of key absences, mostly on the Memphis side, and you get a familiar headache for the Tennessee franchise these last few seasons.
Houston Rockets: defending the fourth spot
Houston are rolling right now — four wins in five keeps Ime Udoka’s side glued to the pace set by the West heavyweights and well placed to protect a top-six slot. The Rockets have recent scalps: Pistons (111-104), Spurs (111-106) and Wolves (110-105). They’ve been getting the job done.
Most of those wins have one theme: defense. Over the last five games Houston are on par with their season mark — 110.6 points allowed versus a 110.8 season average. That kind of consistency is why they sit with the fourth-best defense in the league.
INJURY REPORT: Steven Adams (OUT) – Aaron Holiday (probable)
Memphis Grizzlies: desperate for a win
Memphis are in a rut. Three wins from their last 12 and the play‑in is slipping away. The medical list isn’t helping — you can’t build rhythm when bodies keep dropping — and their recent defensive form has been brutal: 116.4 points allowed over the last five games. That won’t cut it.
Offensively they’re nothing special either. Scoring 115.5 points per game lands them 19th in the league. They grab plenty of boards (46.2, 5th) and rack up assists (29.1, 5th), but numbers don’t win games if the shots aren’t falling and the defense is leaking. Facing Houston’s stingy D, finding consistent offense — especially without Ja Morant — looks very hard.
INJURY REPORT: Ja Morant (OUT) – Brandon Clarke (OUT) – Ty Jerome (OUT) – Zach Edey (OUT) – Scotty Pippen Jr (OUT)
NBA Prediction Houston Rockets vs Memphis Grizzlies
Under 228.5 points
The Rockets are at home — they’ve lost just three of 18 there this season. More importantly, they defend. They’ve shut down plenty of good attacks this year and the Grizzlies are in a slump, struggling to create easy looks. Houston should control the tempo and keep this one tight. Expect a low-scoring, controlled affair in the Rockets’ favor.

First — a quick word on our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing else. We give an opinion, a snapshot of the moment. It’s not a promise. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a fluke play and the whole script changes.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no such thing as a risk‑free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it rarely is. Yes, you can lose. At some point you will.
- Best practice: bet small. Set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. Don’t chase losses — that never ends well.
- Betting should be entertainment, not a job or income source. If it’s taking over your life, making you anxious or stressed, take a break. If needed, talk to a specialist. That’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately you’re responsible. Reading our content means you accept the risk is real and never goes away, even with the best analysis.
- Important reminder: betting is forbidden for minors and must follow your local laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

Information can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. Team sheets change, players get hurt, conditions shift… and the analysis can become outdated fast. We can’t be held accountable for that.
