New Orleans Pelicans – Detroit Pistons: East No.1 against West No.15
The Pelicans and Pistons meet in a clash of completely different agendas. Detroit are chasing a title; New Orleans are desperately trying to salvage a season gone off the rails. Expect a one-sided affair unless something crazy happens.
New Orleans Pelicans: trying to stay in the game
Four losses in five. The Pelicans are spiralling. These aren’t blowouts every night — they lose the small battles and that costs them the war. Against Houston (111-119) or Indiana (119-127) they’ve stayed close, but staying close isn’t winning in the NBA.
Defense is the real problem. Allowing 122.2 points per game, they’ve got the third-worst defense in the league. You don’t get away with sloppiness in this league, and New Orleans is paying the price. Offense isn’t much help at 114.9 points (21st). Zion Williamson and Trey Murphy III have talent and are delivering, but the roster around them simply isn’t pulling its weight. Versus Detroit they’ll need a near-perfect night to have a shot.
INJURY REPORT : Dejounte Murray (OUT) – Jose Alvarado (OUT) – Herb Jones (questionable)
Detroit Pistons: a must-win
The Pistons are flying — six wins in seven, including statement wins over the Celtics (104-103) and Knicks (121-90). They’re top of the East at 31-10 and everything’s clicking. Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren are a solid double-act, and the role players know their jobs and do them.
Defense suffocates (110.1 points allowed) and the offense is efficient (117.3 points, 11th). Best of all, J.B. Bickerstaff should have a full squad for this one — perfect timing. They can’t mess this up, even if they’re playing far from Michigan.
INJURY REPORT : Caris LeVert (questionable)
NBA Pick New Orleans Pelicans vs Detroit Pistons
Over 229,5 points
The Pelicans have offensive weapons — Zion and Trey can hurt any defense. But New Orleans will struggle to slow Detroit’s stars, so the game should lean high-scoring. The Pelicans will have the home crowd and that extra push; expect them to fight to stay competitive against one of the league’s best.

A word on our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. It’s an opinion, a snapshot of the moment — not a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a fluke play… and the whole script flips.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it rarely is. Yes, that means you can lose. You will at some point.
- Stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live. And don’t chase losses — that never ends well.
- Betting should be entertainment, not a job or an income source. If it’s taking over your life or stressing you out, take a break. Talk to a specialist if you need to. That’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, you’re responsible. Reading our content means you accept the risk and that it won’t vanish, no matter how strong the analysis.
- Important reminder: gambling is banned for minors and must follow your local laws. It can spiral (money loss, family strain, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
