Philadelphia 76ers vs Phoenix Suns – Free NBA prediction and picks – January 20, 2026

Philadelphia 76ers – Phoenix Suns : big back-to-back showdown

The 76ers host the Suns in a clash between two teams firmly in the playoff mix in their conferences. Philly and Phoenix both played on MLK Day yesterday, so expect heavy legs for the second night of a back-to-back.

Philadelphia 76ers : repeat last night’s performance

The Sixers got back on track last night against a soft Pacers side (113-104), snapping a two-game skid to the Cavaliers. Nick Nurse’s group looked solid on defence and stayed composed on offence. Joel Embiid (30 points, 9 rebounds) and Tyrese Maxey (29 points, 8 assists) were the headlines.

Against the Suns, Philly will need the same level to string together a second straight win. The only roster doubt is Paul George, so despite yesterday’s fatigue the Sixers should have their tools. Scoring from role players — like Kelly Oubre Jr’s 18 points on 8/14 — will be vital against one of the league’s best defences, which will throw most of its attention at the Maxey‑Embiid duo.

Phoenix Suns : finally the return of Jalen Green?

Fresh off their MLK Day win over the Nets (126-117), the Suns are hot right now. Five wins in seven, including two nice scalps of the Knicks (112-107 and 106-99). At 26-17 at the midseason mark, Phoenix can realistically eye a top‑6 spot in the West — something that looked laughable back in October.

Why the leap? Defence. The Suns allow just 111.9 points per game, fifth best in the league. They’re also stingy from deep, holding opponents to 34.8% from three, fourth best. Offence runs through Devin Booker, and Jalen Green could return to help — he might play his third game of the season tonight.

NBA Pick Philadelphia 76ers vs Phoenix Suns

Under 227.5 points

The Sixers are 11-11 at home, the Suns 12-12 on the road. Both teams are on the second night of a back-to-back, so don’t expect fireworks. Phoenix wins with defence and Philly can grind out slow, half‑court games. All signs point to a low total.

First off, a quick word on our picks

  • What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We give an opinion, a snapshot of the moment, not a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal out of nowhere… and the script changes.
  • Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, it rarely is. Yes, you can lose. It will happen.
  • Be sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — it almost never ends well.
  • Betting should stay a hobby, not a job or a source of income. If it’s taking over, annoying you or stressing you, take a break. If needed, contact a specialist organisation — that’s what they’re for.
  • Ultimately, you’re responsible. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and won’t disappear, even with the best analysis.
  • Important reminder: betting is prohibited for minors and must follow your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from our side

Our picks aren’t a contract. They carry no legal weight. In short: you can’t use them to demand anything if a bet fails.

Information changes

A pick is based on what we know when we write it. Lineups change, a player gets hurt, conditions shift… and the analysis can become outdated fast. We can’t be held responsible for that.

Your role

Before you bet, check that gambling is legal where you live. If it isn’t, that’s your responsibility, not ours.

Responsible gaming first

We’ll say it again: gamble responsibly. If you can’t keep control, seek help. We’re not responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the site’s info.
