Real Sociedad – Barcelona: a serious test for a Barça firing on all cylinders
Sunday night, Anoeta hosts a clash between two teams living in very different worlds. Barcelona turn up as the bosses, irresistible for two months. Real, on the other hand, is still chasing the consistency it’s been missing all season.
Real Sociedad: signs of life, but a ceiling still too low
Real finished 11th last season and hoped to start better. But after 19 rounds, they’re… 11th. Still talented, still impressive in bursts, but can’t string results together. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s arrival has bought some air: two wins, a draw, and a Copa del Rey spot after penalties against Osasuna. In La Liga they’ve picked up four points from Atlético and Getafe.
But Anoeta’s no fortress anymore: just 11 points from nine matches, only three wins. The record against Barça isn’t kind: four defeats in the last five meetings… even if Real shocked them last season with a 1-0 win at this very ground.
Barcelona: a machine running at full speed
Hansi Flick’s Barça are sparkling. Eleven straight wins in all competitions, a trophy already in the bag with the Spanish Super Cup, and a growing sense of control week after week. On Thursday the Catalans booked a spot in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Santander. In La Liga they haven’t played since the derby on January 3 — a 2-0 win over Espanyol. The picture’s clear: nine league wins on the trot, four points clear of Real Madrid, an attack brimming with confidence, a defence that’s occasionally shaky but often bailed out by sheer attacking volume. The only blot is the Champions League, where Barça still have to grind to qualify directly.
But in the league, Flick has found champion pace.

Football Prediction Real Sociedad vs Barcelona
Both teams to score
Barcelona are in exceptional form, but Real have regained confidence and know how to make games difficult at Anoeta.
Both sides have enough quality up front to find the net, although Barça look equipped to take all three points.
First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We share an opinion, a snapshot reading, never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script flips.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing really is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
- Best course: be sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live. And don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
- Betting should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it takes over your life, annoys you or stresses you, take a break. If needed, talk to a specialised organisation. That’s what they’re for.
- Ultimately, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting the risk exists and won’t vanish, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral (losing money, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our tips aren’t a contract. They have no legal standing. Plain and simple: you can’t use them to claim anything if a bet loses.
Info can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. But in the meantime, a line-up changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
