Golden State Warriors – New York Knicks: time to get back on track
The Warriors and the Knicks meet tonight for their first showdown of the season at the Chase Center. Goals couldn’t be more different. Golden State will try to lock down a spot in the West playoff race. New York will try to cling to second in the East, hoping to chase down the Pistons down the line.
Golden State Warriors: don’t get left behind in the standings
Momentum’s decent in San Francisco. Three wins in the last four. The commanding wins over the Blazers (119-97) and the Kings (137-103) did wonders for morale and showed they can sustain a full game while defending. At home they’re brutal: 14 wins in 20.
The offence is humming — 28.5 assists per game, eighth-best in the league this season. They live on outside shooting and the highest volume of long-range attempts in the NBA, led by Steph Curry still cooking at nearly 38. Still, the boards are a worry. That’s a problem against the Knicks, who own one of the better rebounding units, thanks in part to Mitchell Robinson’s work.
New York Knicks: hold on to 2nd in the East
The Knicks have been solid in the standings, sitting second in the Eastern Conference. But recent form is patchy, with a few surprising losses, including to Sacramento (101-112). Still one of the more efficient offences in the league, and their defence is steady.
The big story here is the likely absence of Jalen Brunson. He went out with an ankle knock — same one that bothered him last season — and won’t probably be risked. Without him the Knicks lose a lot of creativity and offensive flow. They’ll have to lean on structured, defensive-minded basketball. Add fatigue — it’s a back-to-back for New York — and that could blunt intensity and shooting, especially on the road against a Warriors team comfy at home.
NBA pick Golden State Warriors vs New York Knicks
Under 228.5 points
To stay in this game, New York will need a big night from Karl-Anthony Towns and the rest of the starting five. With no notable absences reported for the Warriors, they should start as favourites. The Knicks will likely try to slow the pace to avoid being blown out by a hot Warriors attack. Factor that in and this one should stay low-scoring.

First, a word about our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We give an opinion, a snapshot of the moment, never a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a score out of nowhere… and the whole script flips.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing is. Yes, that means you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
- Best play is to be sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch the money you need to live. And don’t chase losses — it usually ends badly.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a way to make a living. If it’s taking over, annoying you or stressing you out, take a break. Talk to a specialist organisation if needed. That’s what they’re for.
- Ultimately, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and won’t disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Important reminder: betting is forbidden for minors and must comply with your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our picks aren’t a contract. They have no legal weight. In short: you can’t rely on them to make claims if a bet fails.
Info that changes
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. But lineups change (like the Warriors’), a player gets hurt, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
