Two returning bowlers set the tone
Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid both came back into the England side in Perth, and both made an impact. England beat Western Australia by 92 runs in an ODI warm-up, bowling the home side out for 159 after setting a target of 252.
Archer, who was rested for the tri-series in Pakistan, took 3-34 from eight overs. Rashid, who was passed over for most of that tour in favour of Liam Dawson, finished with 4-35 from 7.3.

A shaky batting display
England chose to bat after winning the toss and were bowled out for 251 in 48 overs. Ben Duckett top-scored with 59, following back-to-back tri-series hundreds. Several top-order batters got starts without going on, captain Harry Brook among them, and Sam Curran fell in the 29th over to leave the tourists 150-6. Will Jacks made 34 and Dawson finished unbeaten on 44 to push the total past 200. Brody Couch took 4-47 for Western Australia and Lance Morris had 3-29.
The chase never got going. Corey Wasley top-scored with 41 and Cameron Bancroft made 32.
What comes next
Jacob Bethell was not picked, as he continues his return from the knee injury that has kept him out since July. England open the series against Australia with the first of three ODIs in Perth on Friday, November 13, followed by games in Adelaide and Hobart and then five T20Is.
