Colorado turns a slow start into a five-goal finish
Chicago had the Avalanche on the ropes early. The Blackhawks led 2-0 at home on Monday night, with Wyatt Kaiser and Roman Kantserov doing the scoring, and then watched Colorado take the game away one goal at a time. The Avalanche scored the last five goals and won 5-2.
Nazem Kadri and Jaden Schwartz led the way with two goals apiece. Devon Toews added a goal and an assist, sealing it with an empty-netter at 17:38 of the third period, and T.J. Hughes picked up two assists. Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 21 shots in goal.
The result carries weight beyond one night. It was Colorado’s third straight win, its longest run of the season so far, and it ended a three-game losing streak on the road.

Chicago’s slide gets deeper
The Blackhawks have little to hold onto. They have now lost three in a row and six of their last seven, and their record sits at 1-5-1. Spencer Knight made 24 saves, but the lead he helped protect in the opening stretch did not survive the middle of the game.
For Colorado, the way this one was won matters as much as the points. Falling behind by two on the road and answering with five unanswered goals is the kind of night that tends to steady a team that had been struggling away from home.
