NFL: Swift scores three second-half TDs as Bears beat Seattle

Chicago pulls away after the break

Seattle had the NFL’s best Monday Night Football winning percentage entering the game. Chicago ended the night with a 34-17 win in Seattle and a 6-2 record, its third victory in a row.

The Bears scored first on an 80-yard, 17-play drive that took 8:32 and ended with a one-yard Caleb Williams pass to Luther Burden III. Seattle’s opponents had scored a touchdown on the opening possession in none of the previous 16 games, and that streak ended there. Jason Myers kicked a 27-yard field goal, and Sam Darnold found Jaxon Smith-Njigba from 43 yards with 30 seconds left in the half, though Myers missed the extra point. Chicago led 13-9 at the break, with Cairo Santos adding kicks of 44 and 38 yards.

Swift takes over

D’Andre Swift scored three rushing touchdowns, all in the second half. His one-yard run made it 20-9. Cooper Kupp caught a seven-yard score from Darnold and Tory Horton converted the two-point try to make it 20-17. Swift then scored from five yards out around the right end, and added another five-yard run up the middle after an interception to seal it. He had 69 yards on 27 carries.

Williams completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown, and Colston Loveland and Burden had seven catches each. Darnold went 17 of 34 for 188 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, and was sacked three times. Smith-Njigba finished with six catches for 118 yards.

Seattle fell to 4-4.
