Nolan survives two rounds on the mat
Tom Nolan won his first UFC headliner in Las Vegas on Saturday night, stopping Renato Moicano by TKO at 1:28 of the third round at UFC Vegas 123. The result moves Nolan to 12-1 with six straight wins and drops Moicano to 21-8-1.
The early rounds belonged to the Brazilian. Moicano took Nolan down in the opening round, climbed to back control and hunted a rear-naked choke until the horn. He repeated the plan in the second, locking in a body triangle until referee Dan Miragliotta called a stand-up midway through the round. Nolan used the restart to land a flurry that staggered Moicano, then scored his own takedown and came close to finishing in the closing seconds.

The third round ends it
Nolan came out hurting Moicano with heavy power shots. Moicano shot a desperate takedown, Nolan reversed it, got on top and landed unanswered strikes until Miragliotta stepped in. “Now, I understand the blueprint,” Nolan said on the post-fight broadcast.
What else happened on the card
Jacobe Smith kept his record perfect at 14-0 in the co-main event, beating Randy Brown 30-26 on all three cards with takedowns and top control. Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani won his seventh straight when ringside doctors stopped his fight with Farman Hasanov in the third round at 2:11 because of damage to Hasanov’s left eyelid, handing Hasanov his first professional loss. Cody Durden edged Ode’ Osbourne by 29-28 on all three scorecards, and Luana Santos beat Yana Santos by unanimous decision.
