NBA: Barnes hits a career-high 41, but Magic top Raptors

Barnes does everything but win

Scottie Barnes scored a career-high 41 points on 19-of-34 shooting, and it still was not enough. The Orlando Magic beat the Toronto Raptors 121-114 on Friday night, bouncing back from a 129-99 loss to the same team on Wednesday. Barnes added five rebounds and five assists before fouling out.

Immanuel Quickley contributed 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds for Toronto, but the Raptors could not keep pace with the scoring Orlando got from all over its lineup.

Bane and Wagner steer the response

Desmond Bane led the Magic with 28 points, and Franz Wagner had 26 points and 11 assists. Wendell Carter Jr. added 20 points and seven rebounds, while Anthony Black chipped in 17 points and 10 assists.

The turnaround from a 30-point defeat two nights earlier was the story for Orlando. For Toronto, Barnes’ shooting night will count among the best individual performances of the young season, yet it ended in a loss and with its star watching the finish from the bench.
