An odd home game for a team in free fall
The Chargers (0-6) will be the visiting team on Sunday, even though the game is at SoFi Stadium, the building they share with the Rams. It is only the second meeting between the clubs since they moved in together.
Los Angeles has lost six straight and last played on Oct. 18, a 22-6 defeat to Kansas City in which four rookie offensive linemen started. It then had a bye. Justin Herbert threw no touchdown passes in that game, has thrown an interception in every game this season and has been sacked 21 times, tied for third most in the league. The offense averages 15.0 points per game, last in the NFL.
The defense, a strength last season, now gives up 123.8 rushing yards (21st) and 25.2 points (22nd) per game. Mike McDaniel, the former Miami head coach, arrived as offensive coordinator and will keep the play-calling, Jim Harbaugh said. So far it has not changed the results. Harbaugh insists the focus is on winning now.

The Rams are coming off their best scoring day
The Rams (3-4) won 35-21 at Las Vegas last Sunday, their highest-scoring game of the season. Matthew Stafford threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns, and the ground game gained 199 net yards. Kyren Williams ran for 99 yards and a score, and Blake Corum added 93 yards and a touchdown. In Week 6 they lost 18-16 to Arizona after losing the second of three kickers they have used this season to injury.
Injuries matter on both sides. Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James Jr. has missed three games with a hamstring problem and could land on injured reserve after a setback, while receiver Ladd McConkey (concussion) practiced fully on Wednesday. For the Rams, center Coleman Shelton (hip) and tight end Colby Parkinson (rib) sat out practice. Cornerback Trent McDuffie (groin) was limited after missing two games, and linebacker Nate Landman (concussion) practiced fully.
