Serie A: Douvikas double lifts Como past Sassuolo into top four

Douvikas keeps finding the net

Como did not let a big European night linger. Three days after their 4-1 Champions League win over Manchester United, Cesc Fabregas’s side beat Sassuolo 2-0 at home in Serie A on Saturday, and Anastasios Douvikas supplied both goals.

The Greek striker scored in the 49th and 60th minutes. Maxence Caqueret set up the opener, and Douvikas needed no help with the second, a clean finish that settled the game. He has now scored in each of his last four matches.

Let’s do it

Milan feel the heat, Lens take note

The result moves Como into a provisional top-four place, ahead of AC Milan, who sit fifth and travel to Udinese on Sunday night (8:45 pm local time). Sassuolo started the day 13th and have now gone four games without a win. They also lost a place to Bologna, who beat Cagliari 2-0.

For Como it is a third straight win in all competitions. Lens, their next Champions League opponent on Wednesday, November 4, will not take much comfort from that run.
