Angers vs Lorient – Free Ligue 1 Prediction – 25/10/2026

Angers vs Lorient: three 1-0 wins for the visitors against ten goals conceded in a fortnight Ligue 1

Lorient’s last three Ligue 1 wins have all finished 1-0. They won by that score at Lens on 5 September, at home to Paris FC on 10 October and against Monaco last Sunday, and the two most recent of those were back-to-back clean sheets that lifted them into seventh place.

Angers have gone the other way. They took seven points from their first five league games, including a 3-1 win at Auxerre and a 2-0 home win over Troyes, then lost 5-1 at Brest and 5-2 at home to Marseille. Ten goals conceded in a fortnight is double what they’d let in across the previous five matches combined.

The table reflects both runs. Lorient are seventh with 11 points from seven games, three wins, two draws and two defeats, and a goal difference of +1. Angers are 15th on seven points, with two wins, a draw and four defeats, a goal difference of -6, and only one point separates them from the relegation places.

The fixture itself has gone Angers’ way recently. They’ve won three of the last four meetings, including a 2-0 win at the Stade Raymond-Kopa in October 2025, and Lorient have won only once in their last six visits to the ground. Lorient’s 2-0 home win in February is the exception in that recent run.

Kick-off is at 4:15pm UK time on Sunday. With Lorient a win away from the European places and Angers trying to stop a slide towards the bottom three, the stakes are higher for the hosts, but the evidence of the last two weeks says Lorient are the better-organised side going into it.

Angers: 10 goals conceded in two games, with Lefort back to steady the defence Angers

Angers have avoided relegation narrowly in each of the last two seasons, finishing four points above the play-off place in 2025-26, and their start to this campaign looked like an improvement. The win at Auxerre on 29 August and the 0-0 at Le Havre on 12 September came in a spell where they conceded five goals in five games.

That defensive record has collapsed in two matches. Brest scored five against them on 10 October, and Marseille scored five more at the Raymond-Kopa last Sunday, with Amine El Ouazzani getting Angers’ second goal in the 5-2 defeat. It was his second goal of the season.

The return of Jordan Lefort from suspension should help. Ousmane Camara is also available again after a thigh problem and has returned to training, and the two of them are expected to start together in central defence, a pairing Angers couldn’t field in full during the last fortnight.

The doubts are in midfield. Emmanuel Biumla and Haris Belkebla both missed Wednesday’s training, which leaves Yassin Belkhdim and Branco van den Boomen as the likely pair in front of the back four. Jim Allevinah and Abdallah Sbai should start on the flanks, with El Ouazzani leading the line.

Angers scored two goals against Marseille and three at Auxerre, so they’re not short of goals when they get forward. Against a Lorient side that’s kept two straight clean sheets, though, creating chances will be harder than it was in those games.

Lorient: two clean sheets running and a back three that’s stopped conceding Lorient

Lorient finished tenth in 2025-26, 21 points clear of the automatic relegation places, and their slow start to this season looked like a step back. They lost 2-1 at home to Troyes on 29 August and 2-1 at Le Mans on 19 September, with the win at Lens and a 2-2 draw with Toulouse in between.

Since then they’ve tightened up considerably. The 1-0 wins over Paris FC and Monaco gave them two clean sheets in a row, and only Lyon and Lille have conceded fewer league goals after seven matches. Their win at Lens in early September followed the same pattern, a single goal and a defence that held firm.

The shape is a back three of Toure, Talbi and Adjei, with Yvon Mvogo in goal and Sylla and Kouassi as wing-backs. Cadiou and Avom are expected in central midfield, with Bernardeau and Makengo behind Baldé, who leads the line in the probable line-up.

There are absences to cover. Bandiougou Fadiga is unlikely to play as he recovers from a severe hamstring injury, Noah Mbamba is out with a muscle problem picked up before the international break, and Mohamed Bamba is a doubt after reporting physical discomfort. Panos Katseris is back on the bench and could get minutes.

Lorient’s record at the Raymond-Kopa is the one thing that argues against them, with a single win in their last six visits. They also lost 2-0 there in this fixture last season. This Lorient side is defending far better than the one that lost that game, and Angers have rarely looked weaker at the back than they do now.

Probable lineup Angers: Lopes; Arcus, Camara, Lefort, Kalulu; Belkhdim, van den Boomen; Allevinah, Mouton, Sbai; El Ouazzani
Probable lineup Lorient: Mvogo; Toure, Talbi, Adjei; Sylla, Cadiou, Avom, Kouassi; Bernardeau, Makengo; Baldé

Our prediction: Lorient to win at 2.25

Lorient have kept two straight clean sheets, and all three of their league wins this season have finished 1-0. Angers have conceded ten goals in their last two matches, five at Brest and five at home to Marseille, and lost both.

I know the head-to-head points the other way, with Angers winning three of the last four meetings and Lorient winning just once in six trips to the Raymond-Kopa. Those results came against Angers sides that were defending well, though, and the current one has shipped ten in a fortnight. The return of Lefort and Camara helps, but two defenders don’t fix a problem that ran through the whole team at Brest and against Marseille.

At 2.25, Lorient are priced as slight favourites rather than strong ones, which is fair given the venue. Their defensive run, the gap of four points in the table and the state of the Angers back line make the away win the pick, and a narrow margin, another 1-0 or a 2-1, is the most likely way it arrives.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
