Real Sociedad vs Levante: four wins with two goals conceded in each, and a visitor that hasn’t won at Anoeta since 2019
Real Sociedad have conceded two goals in each of their last four La Liga wins and won every one of them. They beat Elche 3-2 away, Valencia 3-2 away, Deportivo La Coruña 3-2 at home and then Malaga 5-2 at La Rosaleda last weekend, which is how a side with a leaky defence has taken 12 points from its last 15.
The only blot in that run was a 3-0 home defeat by Atlético Madrid. Even so, Real Sociedad are fifth in the table with 16 points from nine games, five wins, a draw and three defeats, and their goal difference of +11 is the product of an attack that’s scored 14 goals in those last four league wins.
Levante come to San Sebastián on Sunday in 11th place with 10 points. Their record of two wins, four draws and three defeats is respectable for a side that finished 16th last season, and on Wednesday they beat Athletic Bilbao 3-1 in a rearranged game for their first league win since late August.
The history at Anoeta doesn’t favour them. Levante last won there in October 2019, their last victory over Real Sociedad anywhere was a 2-1 in May 2022, and the most recent meeting ended 2-0 to Real Sociedad in San Sebastián in April. The overall record across 36 meetings is far closer, 13 Real Sociedad wins to 12 for Levante with 11 draws.
Kick-off is at 5:30pm UK time. Real Sociedad played on Thursday night in Norway, where they won 6-0 at Lillestrøm in the Europa League, and Levante played on Wednesday, so the hosts have had a day less to recover. That’s the main reason I’d expect Levante to make a game of this for at least an hour.
Real Sociedad: 14 goals in four league wins, and Remiro back in goal
The 5-2 at Malaga was the highest-scoring league win of this run and the third straight league game in which Real Sociedad scored at least three times. Mikel Oyarzabal and Luka Sučić started up front together at Lillestrøm, and that pairing, with Takefusa Kubo and Ander Barrenetxea on the flanks, gives the side more goals than most of the division can match.
The defence is where the problems start. Real Sociedad have conceded two in each of their last four league wins, and they were beaten 2-1 at home by Bournemouth in the Europa League and drew 1-1 in Brussels against Union Saint-Gilloise. That left them with four points from three European games before Thursday’s trip to Norway.
Four players are injured: Jon Aramburu, Yangel Herrera, Álvaro Odriozola and Luken Beitia. Héctor Fort is expected to return to the starting line-up, and Álex Remiro is set to come back into goal after the Europa League rotation.
In midfield, Gorrotxategi and Carlos Soler should form the central pair, with Jon Martín and Sarr in central defence in front of Remiro. With Aramburu, Odriozola and Beitia all unavailable, there’s little room to rotate at the back.
Their last three home league games produced a 0-0 with Celta Vigo, the 3-0 loss to Atlético and a 3-2 win over Deportivo. Three of their four straight league wins have come on the road, so Sunday is a chance to turn away form into points at Anoeta.

Levante: Brugué’s five goals and a first league win since August
Levante’s 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday ended a run of five league games without a victory. Before it came a 1-1 draw at Deportivo, a 3-3 at home to Sevilla, a 3-1 defeat at Villarreal, a 4-2 home defeat by Barcelona and a 0-0 at Malaga, so they’ve been scoring regularly even when the results haven’t followed.
Roger Brugué has been the main source of those goals, with five and an assist in eight appearances, and Iván Romero has added three. The two of them give Levante a genuine threat on the counter, and Real Sociedad’s habit of conceding twice per game in the league suggests Brugué will get chances at Anoeta.
Defensively, Levante have been as open as their hosts. Their goal difference is -2 after nine games, and over their recent run both teams have scored in two thirds of their matches. They conceded three at home to Sevilla and four against Barcelona, and the 0-0 at Malaga is their only clean sheet in that six-game stretch.
The fitness of Enzo Bardeli and Dela is the main team news. Both missed the Athletic game with injuries and will be assessed, while Adrián Primo and Hugo Sotelo also appear on absence lists. Ryan is expected in goal behind a back four of Toljan, Mandi, Ndukwe and Sánchez.
Levante’s record in this fixture is better than their recent visits suggest, and a 1-1 draw at home to Real Sociedad last December shows they can stay level with them. Winning at Anoeta is another matter for a side that hasn’t done it in seven years.
Probable lineup Real Sociedad: Remiro; Fort, Martín, Sarr, Gómez; Kubo, Gorrotxategi, Soler, Barrenetxea; Oyarzabal, Sučić
Probable lineup Levante: Ryan; Toljan, Mandi, Ndukwe, Sánchez; Brugué, Olasagasti, Requena, Fernández; Ratkov, Romero

Our prediction: Real Sociedad to win at 1.55
Real Sociedad have won four of their last five league games and scored at least three goals in each of those wins. Levante haven’t won in San Sebastián since 2019 and haven’t beaten Real Sociedad anywhere since 2022, and the last meeting at Anoeta ended 2-0 to the hosts in April.
I expect Levante to score. Brugué is in form, Real Sociedad have conceded two in each of their last four league wins, and both sides’ matches have regularly produced goals at both ends. The pick doesn’t depend on a clean sheet, though: it depends on Real Sociedad scoring more, and their attack has been the most reliable thing about them all autumn.
The extra day’s rest is the honest concern, since Levante played on Wednesday and Real Sociedad on Thursday in Norway. A 6-0 win at Lillestrøm wasn’t a draining night, and the hosts rotated for it, with Remiro and Fort coming back fresher for Sunday. At 1.55, the home win is the price I’d take.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
