Ligue 1: PSG’s Kvaratskhelia out for months with ACL tear

The diagnosis is in

The worst is confirmed for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. In a statement released on Wednesday, PSG announced that the Georgian winger has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, sustained in Tuesday’s match against FC Barcelona. He will undergo surgery in the coming days and will miss several months of action.

The Paris club gave no return date at this stage. The operation is meant to start his rehabilitation as soon as possible.

Dembélé and Marquinhos also hurt

PSG’s statement also mentions two other muscle injuries. Ousmane Dembélé has a left thigh lesion and Marquinhos a right thigh lesion. Both players will remain in treatment over the coming weeks, with no further detail on the exact length of their absence.

Paris’s win over Barça has therefore left its mark in the treatment room. The attack loses its Georgian winger for many months, and the squad must also cope with two other significant absences in the weeks ahead.
