Ottawa commits to Green
The Senators have locked in their coach. Travis Green signed a multi-year extension on Monday that keeps him behind the Ottawa bench through the 2030-31 season. Assistants Nolan Baumgartner, Ben Sexton and Mike Yeo and goaltending coach Justin Peters also received extensions, so the whole staff stays intact.
The timing suits a team off to a 6-3-0 start. General manager Steve Staios said he has watched Green “implement systems and structures that have reinforced my belief in his coaching abilities,” and added that the two share the same vision and philosophy.

The record behind the deal
Green, 55, took over in May 2024 and owns a 95-60-18 record in Ottawa with two playoff trips. His overall NHL coaching mark stands at 236-219-53. Before the Senators he ran the Vancouver Canucks from 2017 to 2021 and served as interim coach of the New Jersey Devils in 2024.
Staios said he is confident the group can keep building, which is the real message of a deal this long. Ottawa has chosen continuity over a reset, and the roster will be expected to turn that stability into wins.
