Three days after Denver let him go
Lonnie Walker IV has a new job, and it is not in the NBA. The guard signed with Besiktas on Thursday, joining the Turkish club that also plays in the EuroLeague. Terms were not disclosed.
The move comes three days after the Denver Nuggets waived him on Oct. 12. Walker had signed a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with Denver in August, then played two preseason games and scored four points in 17 minutes before the cut.

A career split between the NBA and Europe
Walker was the 18th overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in 2018 and spent four seasons there. His best year in Texas came in 2021-22, when he averaged 12.1 points in 70 games. He then took a one-year, $6.5 million contract with the Lakers and averaged 11.7 points per game in 2022-23, and later played for the Brooklyn Nets.
His last NBA stop was his hometown Philadelphia 76ers in 2025. The Philadelphia native averaged 12.4 points in 20 games for the Sixers and set a career high of 31 points against the Chicago Bulls on April 13, 2025, his most recent NBA game.
Back in the EuroLeague
This is not Walker’s first trip overseas. He spent time with Zalgiris Kaunas in the Lithuanian league, then signed a two-year deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 2025, playing in Israel’s Premier League and the EuroLeague. He used an opt-out clause in that contract to return to the NBA with Denver. Now the EuroLeague is his destination again.
