A return that keeps slipping
Micah Parsons will not practice this week, according to an ESPN report relayed Monday, which keeps the Green Bay linebacker off the field ahead of Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers do not expect him back for that matchup.
Parsons tore his ACL in a December game against the Denver Broncos and has been out since. In August he called a Week 6 return against his former team “realistic.” ESPN now reports he is expected back sometime this month, which leaves the door open without naming a date.

What Green Bay is waiting for
Before the injury, Parsons had 12.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 14 games with the Packers, 13 of them starts. The Packers got him from Dallas ahead of the 2025 season for two first-round picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark, a price that only makes sense if he is on the field.
The Cowboys game would have carried extra weight. Parsons faced Dallas a year ago and recorded one sack and three tackles in a 40-40 tie.
The numbers behind the wait
At 27, Parsons has 297 tackles, 65 sacks, 75 tackles for loss, 139 quarterback hits and 11 forced fumbles in 77 career games. He is a five-time Pro Bowler and a three-time first-team All-Pro. Few defenders have produced pass-rush numbers at that pace, which is why the Packers are treating the timeline with care.
Green Bay has already lost Javon Hargrave for the season to a torn Achilles, so the defensive line is thinner than the team planned. Every week without Parsons matters more as a result.
