Friendly: Haiti blow away New Zealand and issue a statement before the World Cup
Haiti did not show up to make up the numbers. On Tuesday night at Chase Stadium, the Grenadiers controlled New Zealand from start to finish to win 4-0, just days before the 2026 World Cup kicks off. It was a convincing display, solid in every area, and it underlined that Haiti will not be there just to make up the numbers on the global stage.

Ruben Providence opened the scoring in the 11th minute to put his side in front before the break. After half-time, Lenny Joseph doubled the lead in the 50th minute, before Frantzdy Pierrot made it 3-0 in the 61st. Duke Lacroix then wrapped it up with the fourth goal in the 86th minute. Haiti had seven shots on target to New Zealand’s three, and also held a slight edge in possession, 51% to 49%. Both goalkeepers used in the match kept a clean sheet.
The win gives the Grenadiers plenty of confidence heading into the final stretch of their preparation. They face one last warm-up on Friday 5 June against Peru before their World Cup opener.
