History & Trophy Cabinet

The Philadelphia 76ers are a historic NBA franchise based in Philadelphia. Founded in 1946 as the Syracuse Nationals, the team adopted its current name in 1963. The Sixers are among the oldest and most respected franchises in the league.

The history of the Sixers is marked by several great eras. Wilt Chamberlain dominated the NBA in the 1960s. In 1983, the franchise won an NBA title with Julius Erving and Moses Malone. The 2000s were defined by Allen Iverson, MVP in 2001, who led Philadelphia to the NBA Finals against the Lakers.

The Sixers play at the Wells Fargo Center. Today, the Sixers continue to pursue a championship, led by modern stars such as Joel Embiid, an MVP and cornerstone of the franchise.
