A clean pass through to the next round
Sinner got the job done in straight sets, seeing off Elmer Moller 6-2, 6-3 in the third round of the Madrid Masters 1000. He spent just one hour and 20 minutes on court, a full 60 minutes less than in his opening match against Benjamin Bonzi, when he was taken to a set.
The numbers tell the story
The first set exposed some shaky service games. The Danish player was broken three times in a row, while the world No. 1 dropped serve once himself. Sinner’s early ball-striking still looked a touch below his best, but the top seed remains in place after Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal.
The overall stats threw up a small surprise. Sinner finished with 16 winners, two fewer than Moller. It didn’t matter in the end. His structure and discipline made sure the gap in raw aggression never became a problem.

A tighter second set and the road ahead
The rallies settled down in the second set. Sinner broke once in the sixth game to move 3-2 ahead and never let go of the lead.
His place in the last 16 is now confirmed. Next up, he will face the winner of Cameron Norrie against Thiago Agustin Tirante.
