Evans Carted Off During Win Over Arizona
Mike Evans left San Francisco’s 36-30 win over Arizona on a cart Sunday after suffering a rib injury against the Cardinals. He was hurt on an incomplete pass in the second quarter when Arizona safety Budda Baker hit him, went to the medical tent, and did not return. The 49ers ruled him out for the rest of the game at halftime.
“We don’t know yet. We couldn’t tell if it was a broken rib. We couldn’t tell if it was an oblique,” coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game. Evans will undergo a full evaluation on Monday.

A Productive Debut Season In San Francisco
Before leaving, Evans caught three passes for 34 yards and a touchdown. He signed with the 49ers in March on a three-year, $42.4 million deal after twelve seasons with Tampa Bay, and has now caught 12 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns through the start of his time in San Francisco.
The six-time Pro Bowler carries a rare streak into whatever comes next: eleven consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons, a mark he shares only with Jerry Rice. His career totals sit at 878 catches, 13,189 yards and 110 touchdowns.
Depth Chart Already Strained
San Francisco won without him anyway, with Brock Purdy throwing four touchdown passes to stay unbeaten at 3-0. But the 49ers also lost left tackle Trent Williams and linebacker Dre Greenlaw to injuries in the same game, adding to a growing list of concerns for a team that has otherwise started the season in complete control.
How long Evans is out will shape how much San Francisco leans on its remaining receivers over the next few weeks.
