Down two goals, then everything changes
Colorado had this one. Two goals up at halftime, cruising in Carson, the Rapids looked ready to leave with three points and a share of first place in the West. Then the LA Galaxy scored three times in 21 second-half minutes and walked away with a 3-2 win instead.
Donavan Phillip put Colorado ahead in the 14th minute, curling a left-footed shot into the top corner off a Josh Atencio pass. Paxten Aaronson made it 2-0 in the 39th, running onto a Rob Holding ball and finishing one-on-one. LA went into the break with nothing to show for its effort.

Three goals, twenty-one minutes, one collapse
Reggie Cannon turned the ball into his own net in the 53rd minute, and suddenly the Galaxy had life. Thirteen minutes later, Rapids goalkeeper Nico Hansen mishandled a routine pass right in front of his own goal, and Joao Klauss did not need a second invitation to level it at 2-2. The winner came in the 74th minute, Justin Haak rising to head home a Robert Taylor corner and complete the turnaround.
Hansen still finished with four saves to Galaxy goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski’s two, a reminder of how much work Colorado’s defense had to do just to keep the score respectable once the goals started flying past its own goalkeeper.
Level on points, and it matters
Both teams sit on 36 points in the Western Conference table, LA at 9-10-9 and Colorado at 11-13-3, though the Rapids have played more matches to get there. With the regular season winding down and playoff positioning tightening across the conference, a two-goal collapse like this one costs Colorado more than just a result. For the Galaxy, it is exactly the kind of response a shaky season needed.
