Fox ties her future to the Emirates
Emily Fox has signed a new contract with Arsenal. The American has committed her future to the Gunners after 20 months of steady service. The 28-year-old full-back arrived in January 2024 from North Carolina Courage. Since then, she has made 93 appearances and scored three goals in Arsenal colours.
Fox explained the move in an interview with Sky Sports. “It was easy. I love this club. I am challenged in a competitive environment and it feels like my second home. It was a very easy decision to stay,” she said. The defender also made it clear she is still driving herself hard. She wants to keep improving, even with a place in the starting XI all but nailed down.

A strong platform for Slegers
Under Renee Slegers, Arsenal have made defensive stability a priority. Fox sits at the heart of it. Sky Sports journalist Laura Hunter describes the American as the modern full-back: she does the hard defensive graft and still gives Arsenal a constant threat going forward. Since arriving in 2024, she has been one of the most reliable defenders in the English game, backed by sharp reading of play, endless energy and a valuable role in building attacks from deep, a key part of the Gunners’ stability.
The American has already had individual recognition too. She was among the nominees for the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or, rare territory for a defender. This extension underlines the club’s desire to keep the spine of the squad together as the competition heats up in the Women’s Super League.
Ambition still burning
Fox insists her hunger for trophies is still there. “I have a mindset that is about improving and I still have things to prove. I am always hungry as a player and I am aiming for perfection. When I play with the best players in the world, there is so much to learn. I want to push myself in an environment where I am challenged, with consistency every day,” she added.
