A last game in Uncasville
The Connecticut Sun close out their time in Uncasville on Thursday, hosting the Toronto Tempo at Mohegan Sun Arena in what doubles as the franchise’s farewell to Connecticut. The team relocates to Houston next season and rebrands as the Comets for 2027.
Coach Rachid Meziane framed the finale plainly. “Our responsibility is to fight until the very end,” he said. “We have this chance to play our last game in our arena in front of our fanbase.” He added: “The goal is the same. Be proud of ourselves, fight for 40 minutes. Regardless of outcome, we know this last game is our last chance to wear a Sun jersey together and finish the season with our head up high.”

Two teams fading down the stretch
Neither side arrives in form. Connecticut (10-33) has dropped six straight, while Toronto (11-32) has lost seven in a row and 19 of its last 20. Diamond Miller scored 19 points in the Sun’s 79-69 loss to Washington on Tuesday, with Leila Lacan and Raegan Beers adding 11 each. Toronto fell 97-85 to Chicago the same night despite Isabelle Harrison’s 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Harrison, for her part, already has one eye on the bigger picture for her opponent. “Connecticut was always a trip because I knew the fans really were going to show up because they love their Sun over there,” she said. “But I’m excited for the franchise to move to Houston and get the Comets back into the league.”
History in the building
Connecticut has called Mohegan Sun Arena home since relocating from Orlando ahead of the 2003 season, racking up 15 winning campaigns and four trips to the WNBA Finals, in 2004, 2005, 2019 and 2022. Toronto swept the season series in June, with Brittney Sykes scoring 38 points in a 106-102 overtime win and Marina Mabrey knocking down nine threes for 37 points nine days later. Thursday won’t change the standings much, but it closes a chapter.
